Dry Needling

Dry Needling Therapy

Dry needling is the use of acupuncture needles to treat myofascial trigger points, which are tight bands in muscle that are usually tender on palpation as well as cause a restriction in movement. This restriction often leads the body to develop altered biomechanics and poor movement patterns which increase the likelihood of developing pain.

Dry needling aims to relieve pain by releasing trigger points, increasing mobility and reducing poor compensatory patterns and postures.

Improved sleep patterns following dry needling is also a common benefit as it encourages the release of serotonin, a neurotransmitter which is vital to effective sleep.

Is it safe?

Dry needling is very safe when performed by trained clinicians. Multiple staff members at Back on Track Health Clinic are trained in the use of dry needling and practice regularly to maintain as well as improve upon their ability.
